ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will make a daylong visit to Kabul tomorrow on the invitation of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
The visit to Kabul is taking place following Ghani’s recent offer of peace talks with the Taliban for lasting peace and stability in the country and strengthening bilateral engagement.
Abbasi will meet Ghani to discuss various matters of mutual interest, including strengthening bilateral political, economic, security and counter-terrorism cooperation, return of Afghan refugees, combating drug production and narco-trade, Afghan peace process and regional political and security situation.
During his visit, PM Abbasi will also meet Chief Executive Dr Abdullah Abdullah and other senior Afghan officials.
Pakistan had already thrown its weight behind Ghani’s fresh initiative of offering dialogue with the Taliban.
