KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) factions MQM-P PIB and MQM-P Bahadurabad on Thursday addressed a joint press conference at Bahdurabad office.
The leaders of the factions addressed the joint conference stating that irrespective of the differences the workers were all a joint family and home of MQM.
MQM-P PIB chief of party Sattar said that “Bahadurabad is our joint home despite differences.” He added that the factions had the same ideological bond even with the ongoing disputes or difference of opinions.
Sattar had chaired a party meeting before the press conference, and remarked that the reason of the dispute had been resolved by Islamabad High Court (IHC).
MQM-P had previously divided into two factions MQM-P PIB led by Dr Farooq Sattar and Bahadurabad under the leadership of Khalid Maqbool following an intraparty dispute pertaining to the issue of Senate nominations. MQM-P Bahadurabad had taken the matter to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP); the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Muhammad Raza Khan on March 26 had dismissed Sattar from the position of party convener.
Sattar had previously challenged the ECP’s verdict and jurisdiction in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), terming it a ‘dark verdict’ for handing over MQM and its symbol to Bahadurabad. The IHC suspended ECP’s decision on March 29.
