KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) approached leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Sunday to hold talks regarding electing candidates for the chairmanship and deputy chairmanship of Senate.
According to sources, PPP is planning to have its own candidate elected for the position of chairman while the party has offered deputy chairmanship to PTI.
PPP bagged 12 seats in Senate elections in Sindh, while PTI won six seats in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), taking its total seat count from across the country to 12.
On Sunday, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the party has contacted ‘other parties’ regarding Senate elections.
Sources further added that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari considers Salim Mandviwala and Sherry Rehman as strong candidates for Senate chairmanship.
It was also said that Bilawal favours Raza Rabbani for the chairmanship, while Sherry Rehman will be his second priority for the post.
