RAWALPINDI: The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), in a statement issued, said that it was responsible for the provision of accommodating thousands of passengers stuck on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2), due to the religious protests across the country.
Protests called by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah across the country had paralysed the transportation and infrastructure structure.
FWO said it accommodated over 10,000 stuck passengers in mosques, green areas, middle halls, rest areas and other places.
Passengers, including 500 children of a private school, were stuck in different areas including Sayal, Kalar Kahar, Chakri, Behra and other areas of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway. In this crucial stretch, FWO accommodated the stuck passengers with hospitality and moral obligation, the FWO said.
According to FWO, families, passengers and school children were being given food, shelter, accommodation and security by the FWO, adding that about 4,000 passengers including families managed to set off for their respective areas in the wee hours of the morning.
Frontier Works Organisation also condemned efforts to malign it on social media by unpatriotic elements. The FWO said it was performing its moral duty under true norms of its motto, “Striving for Excellence”.
