ISLAMABAD: The joint investigation team (JIT) constituted for further investigation into the Panama Papers case is likely to submit its final report today to a special bench of the Supreme Court as the 60 day period given to the investigation team closes today on July 10.
The Supreme court’s special implementation bench had constituted a JIT to probe the premier’s alleged off shore wealth and charges of money laundering against the Sharifs.
Nawaz Sharif held an advisory meeting with his cabinet and legal experts to ponder about what course to take after the JIT had submitted its report against the Sharif’s regarding money laundering.
We shall see if the Panama investigators have found satisfactory answers to the 13 questions in 60 days time.
The JIT comprises of six members and was led by the Federal Investigation Agency’s Wajid Zia, State Bank of Pakistan’s Amer Aziz, SECP Executive Director Communication Bilal Rasool, National Accountability Bureau Irfan Naeem Mangi, Inter-Services Intelligence Brigadier (retd) Nauman Saeed and Military Intelligence Brigadier Kamran Khurshid.
The JIT was constituted back on May 5 keeping in note the court’s April 20 judgment regarding the Panama Papers case and its first meeting was held on May 8.
