KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has said that Karachi belongs to everyone living in the city and it isn’t the responsibility of just one political party.
He added on Saturday that no government seemed to be interested in resolving Karachi’s issues andthe Supreme Court (SC) might be running the city in the future only through suo moto actions.
Talking to the media while inspecting the development works on Tariq Road, Waseem Akhtar said that he had presented all the problems of Karachi as well as the solutions before the commission.
Supreme Court ordered the local government elections in the past and now it seems that the courts will have to run the city with suo moto actions, he added, roads’ condition is worsening just because of the poor sewerage system; Water Board should be under the mayor.
Without mentioning Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Mustafa Kamal, Waseem Akhtar said that even those who had no stakes in Karachi were talking yesterday about solving the issues of the city.
