KARACHI: The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday said it is obligatory upon the judiciary to guard the basic rights of common people.
The CJP was addressing the SAARCLAW Conference. He referred to the suo motu notice taken over the plight of a child girl Tayyaba.
He said that access of justice for the people should be affordable and speedy solutions should be provided to them.
The chief justice, reaffirming his commitment to the principles of freedom and justice, said members of bar and bench need to be equally aware of their responsibilities towards the marginalised sections of the society.
Justice Saqib said on the importance of SAARC that it presents an ideal forum in which the regional states can come together to not only envision but also introduce a strong culture of timely and efficient dispensation of justice.
Social justice, he said, needed to be extended due importance and must not be compromised at any level.
