ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif submitted his reply in the court against the Rs 30 billion defamation case filed by PTI’s Secretary General Jahangir Tareen in local court.
According to details, Islamabad District and Sessions Judge Mufti Kamran Basharat conducted the hearing of the defamation case on Saturday. The counsels of both parties appeared before the court. The court had sought reply from the CM, while issuing notices, including a stay order on the case.
CM’s Counsel Mustafa Ramday has submitted a reply in the court, which states that petitioner Jahangir Tareen is the director and share holder of two major companies and wrote off loans. It is worth mentioning here that Jahangir Tareen had filed a defamation suit worth Rs 30 billion against Shehbaz Sharif on leveling allegation of write off loans.
The defamation case states that the CM, on April 25, 2016, during his address in public meeting levelled a baseless allegation on Jahangir Tareen of write off loans and repeated the same allegations in a press conference on October 26 instead of apologising.
