ISLAMABAD: Accountability court on Tuesday resumed proceedings of Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference against former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his family.
The court resumed hearing the case proceedings.
Nawaz’s defense counsel Khawaja Haris continued cross-examination of prosecution’s star witness and former head of Panamagate joint investigation team (JIT) Wajid Zia.
During the hearing National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor objected over defense counsel’s questioning pertaining to documents never admitted as evidence in court.
In response, Haris asserted that the star witness had made the defense hear Zia’s unending story, and now objections are being raised over cross examination.
The court is scheduled to resume hearing of Avenfield case at 2pm where Maryam Nawaz’s counsel will resume presentation of final arguments.
The hearing is underway at the accountability court without the presence of Nawaz and Maryam as they have been granted a two-day exemption from court appearances owing to Kulsoom Nawaz’s unstable condition.
Nawaz and family are under trial for money laundering, tax evasion and corruption in NAB’s supplementary reference cases.
